Niche interactions between dominant and subdominant species in old-field communities

This project will assess how species of dominant and subdominant plants interact. Broadly, there are two niche strategies in old-fields: 1) Grow tall and successfully compete for light; and 2) stay low and live in low light levels. These two niches still compete for nutrients and water. We will examine how strongly species compete within and between these two strategies.
